Resident Evil: Extinction (New Movie of September)

The third and final installment of the $100 million Resident Evil hits, RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION is again based on the wildly popular video game series and picks up where the last film left off. Alice (MILLA JOVOVICH), now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Olivera (ODED FEHR) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors Claire (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke ) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti) to try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead...and to seek justice. Since being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, Alice has been subjected to biogenic experimentation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills, and more, will be needed if anyone is to remain alive.   Theatrical Release Date: 09/21/2007.

Walking on Florida Beach

Each Florida beach has a unique feel and appeal, and often the sand and clear blue waters become just an added bonus. Birdwatchers, auto fans, history buffs, kayakers, horseback riders, dog lovers, shell seekers, snorkelers, people watchers, treasure hunters and more can all find a beach to indulge their passion. I love Florida beaches, walking on the beach is the most amazing thing!

Aside from the beautiful view of the ocean and the great people watching there are many benefits of walking on the beach. Walking in sand requires a greater effort than walking on a hard surface. Your muscles and tendons will work harder as your foot moves around.  Walking at a slower pace requires more effort than walking fast or even jogging. Walking in sand requires 2.1 to 2.7 times more energy than walking on hard surfaces. Jogging in sand uses 1.6 times more energy than jogging on hard surfaces.  For most of us burning calories is one of the benefits of any exercise. One the primary benefits of walking on a beach is that you will use 20 to 50 percent more calories than you would walking at the same pace on a hard surface.

Great Smoky Mountains

Ridge upon ridge of endless forest straddles the border between North Carolina and Tennessee in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. World renowned for the diversity of its plant and animal life, the beauty of its ancient mountains, and the quality of its remnants of Southern Appalachian mountain culture, this is America's most visited national park.

The Blue Ridge Parkway can be experienced in many ways and at many levels. It is a scenic driving experience. It has been dubbed "America's Favorite Drive" and is one of only 23 roads nation-wide that has earned All-American Road status. No wonder.

Colors are developing nicely at high elevation this week and mountain ash berries are bright red. At mid and low elevations, the majority of the trees are still green, but some species that change color early such as dogwood, sourwood, and sugar maples are showing good color now...
